The short version
- We collect what we need to run Atheneo. That means your account details, what you set up in the app, and, if you connect brokerage accounts or trading platforms, their data and your encrypted keys or access tokens.
- We use it to run Atheneo, power Henry, keep things secure, and help you.
- We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t use advertising cookies or trackers, and we don’t share your data with advertisers.
- Your keys and access tokens are encrypted, and we delete them when you disconnect.
- We share data only to run the service: with companies that help us run Atheneo, including connection services, with your broker or platform to carry out your instructions, or when the law requires it.
- You’re in control. You can see, correct, get a copy of, or delete your information. Email support@atheneo.ai.
1. Who we are
Atheneo AI, Inc. (“Atheneo,” “we,” “us”) runs atheneo.trade, atheneo.ai, the Atheneo web and phone apps, and Henry (together, the “Service”).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service.
- Account details: your name, email address, and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, Google shares these with us.
- Password: if you sign in with an email address and password, we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, which we can’t read.
- Trading password: the six-digit code you set. We store only a hashed version of it, too.
- What you set up: watchlists, your trading plan and limits, Henry’s mode, alerts, journal entries, notes, and settings.
- Support messages: what you tell us when you contact us.
- Payments, when you buy a plan: our payment processor collects your card or wallet details. We receive only limited details, such as the card type, the last four digits, and whether a payment went through. We never see or store your full card number.
Atheneo connects to multiple brokerages and trading platforms, some directly and some through third-party connection services. If you connect an account, we collect:
- the API keys, access tokens, or other credentials that let Atheneo reach your account, stored encrypted (see section 6);
- your account number and account type;
- balances, buying power, positions, orders, and fills; and
- a daily snapshot of your account value, which builds your account history in Atheneo.
We check your connected accounts automatically every few minutes. This keeps your information current and lets us tell you if a connection drops.
You never give us your brokerage password. When a platform asks you to approve Atheneo, you sign in on that platform’s own page.
If you connect through a connection service, that service receives what it needs to link your account and passes your account data to us. Its own privacy policy also applies, and you may be asked to accept its terms when you connect.
- Device and log information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, and when you sign in.
- Activity: what you do in the app, such as placing orders, changing settings, and connecting accounts. We keep a security log of important actions, including the IP address and device they came from.
- Cookies and similar technology: see section 7.
2.4 What we don’t collect today
We don’t currently collect your Social Security number, government ID, bank account numbers, or precise location. If we add a feature that needs them, such as opening a brokerage account through Atheneo, we will update this policy first and explain what we collect and why.
- To provide the Service: run your account, show your data, carry out the orders you place, run paper trading, and keep your history.
- To power Henry: create notices and briefs about your watchlist and the market, and fit Henry to your plan and how you trade.
- To watch your connections: check your connected accounts and alert you if one drops.
- To keep Atheneo safe: protect accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce limits and safety checks, and look into problems.
- To support you and keep you informed: answer your questions and send service messages, such as security alerts and dropped-connection emails. Unless you opt out, we may also send news about Atheneo.
- To improve Atheneo: understand how features are used, fix bugs, and build and test new features, including Henry. When we analyze data to improve the Service, we use combined (aggregated) or de-identified data wherever we can.
- To follow the law and protect rights: meet our legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms.
4. Henry and AI providers
Some of Henry’s features use AI models run by third-party AI providers. When they do, we send what the feature needs, such as market data, stock symbols, and your plan settings.
We never send your keys, access tokens, passwords, or payment details to AI providers. We use AI providers whose terms don’t allow them to train their models on what we send them.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share it only in these ways:
- With service providers who help us run Atheneo, such as cloud hosting, email delivery, sign-in, AI, market data, and payment processing. They may use it only to provide services to us.
- With connection services that link Atheneo to your brokerage or platform, so they can make and keep your connection working.
- With your brokerage or platform, to do what you ask, such as reading your account and sending your orders.
- With a small number of authorized Atheneo staff. They can see account information, including balances and positions in connected accounts, to support you, keep the Service safe, and run the business.
- For legal reasons. We share when we believe in good faith that it’s needed to comply with the law, legal process, or a government request; to protect the safety, rights, or property of you, Atheneo, or others; or to look into fraud or security problems.
- In a business transfer. If Atheneo is part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may move as part of that deal. This policy will continue to apply to it.
- With your permission, whenever you ask us to or agree to it.
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that can’t reasonably be used to identify you.
- Encryption in transit. Everything between your device and Atheneo travels over HTTPS.
- Encrypted keys and tokens. We encrypt each set of brokerage keys or access tokens at rest with its own encryption key. We use them only to reach your connected accounts. After you enter a key, we only ever show its last four characters.
- Hashed passwords. We store your sign-in password, if you use one, and your trading password only as hashes.
- Limited access. Only people who need personal information can see it, and we log important actions.
No security is perfect, and we can’t guarantee that no one will ever get unauthorized access. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
You can help: use a strong password and two-step verification, set a trading password, and turn on any extra security your broker or platform offers.
7. Cookies and similar technology
We use only the cookies we need to run Atheneo. They sign you in, keep you signed in, and protect sign-in from attack. We also save some of your preferences in your browser so the app remembers them.
We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t let third parties track you across other sites through Atheneo. You can block cookies in your browser, but then you won’t be able to sign in.
Because we don’t sell your information or use it for targeted advertising, browser signals like Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control don’t change anything we do.
We keep your information while your account is open.
When you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time. We keep only what we need to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain security logs, or enforce our agreements.
When you disconnect an account, we stop using it. Once none of your connected accounts uses a set of keys or access tokens, we delete them right away. Account history we already recorded, such as past positions and daily values, stays with your Atheneo account until you close it or ask us to delete it.
9. Your choices and rights
- See and update your information in your account and settings.
- Disconnect an account at any time in Settings. Once no connected account uses a set of keys or tokens, we delete them.
- Stop marketing emails with the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We will still send service messages.
- Close your account in Account settings, or by emailing support@atheneo.ai.
- Ask for access, a copy, a correction, or deletion by emailing support@atheneo.ai from the address on your account. We will verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days).
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with privacy laws, you may have more rights. They can include the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, of sharing for targeted advertising, or of certain profiling. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
We won’t treat you differently for using your privacy rights. You can make a request through an authorized agent, and we will ask for proof that the agent may act for you. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
California “Shine the Light”: we don’t share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
10. Children
Atheneo is only for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact support@atheneo.ai and we will delete it.
Atheneo is run from the United States, and we store your information in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
We update this policy from time to time, and it’s your responsibility to check it for updates. If we make a significant change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of this policy shows when it last changed.
